Sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI)

Sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI) is a mild surfactant derived from coconut oil. It belongs to the anionic surfactant family, and is therefore a detergent.

NOTE: Depending on availability, we sometimes offer SCI in powder, sometimes in flakes or noodles - you can reduce them to pieces or powder using a mortar, a blender or a knife.

Our SCI is in noodle form.

• Like sodium coco sulfate (SCS), it has foaming and cleansing power (even in hard water!) and gives a creamy texture to shampoo recipes, cleansing bars, dishwashing cakes and bath bombs.

• It is often added to recipes containing SCS to soften them.

• It leaves a soft finish on skin and hair.

• SCI can be used in products for children.

• Transfer into an airtight container upon receipt.

• In its pure state, SCI is irritating to the respiratory tract and eyes. Wear gloves, a mask and protective eyewear when handling it.

• Keep out of reach of children in its pure state.
