Have you noticed? There are quite a few deodorant recipes on our site, and they are frequently updated!
Why? Because finding a good natural deodorant that works for us can often prove difficult and discouraging, whether it's homemade or store-bought! So we’ve rounded everything up here, so that you can find… the perfect fit, or the perfect deo for your underarm!
Our basic recipes
Do you react well to baking soda? Then there's no question about it: our two basic recipes below are super effective.
But! Be aware that if you are sensitive to baking soda, you can replace it in these recipes with the same amount of diatomaceous earth! Highly absorbent, it will do exactly the same job! However, if you use diatomaceous earth, you must not omit the essential oils in the recipes.
Homemade deodorant (super simple recipe)
For years, I searched for the perfect (commercial) deodorant, without success. After a while, my body would get used to the product and it would stop working. So I had to change deodorants every 2 weeks and alternate. Ridiculous! This homemade deodorant has completely changed my life! Two weeks in Mexico without having to reapply during the day? It's a miracle.

This recipe contains baking soda, yes, but diluted in hydrosol, it loses its abrasive and irritating side! Something to try for those looking for a gentle alternative.

Without baking soda

Deodorants generally contain a minimal dosage of essential oils that remains safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in theory. But we’re playing it safe with this recipe made with essential oils recognized as being safe!

Several essential oils are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding; they could impact hormones and uterine muscles or contain molecules toxic to the fetus. However, in deodorants, the dosage of essential oils is normally safe. But since we know you like to play it safe, we've put together a recipe made with essential oils known to be harmless!

Milk of magnesia, which can be found in any good local pharmacy for a negligible price, is… a laxative! But above all, it is a suspension of magnesium hydroxide that is a champion of moisture absorption.
A frankly surprising and effective recipe!
Milk of Magnesia Deodorant
Here's a recipe for a milk of magnesia deodorant, without baking soda, and frankly astonishing in its effectiveness! Like baking soda, milk of magnesia is alkaline. However, even though it's composed of insoluble molecules (hence its milky appearance), it's not abrasive and is suitable for sensitive underarms.
